Iconic History
Originally the property was gazetted for the Naralingup townsite. However, a miscalculation of 7km put the post office to the north where Witchcliffe was erroneously developed and the Birnamwood bush was preserved from clearing.
In the 1970's a bush clearing which is now inhabited by the statue Eric the Dragon, was a secluded hippy colony. It has hosted 13 Open Gardens and was featured in Julie Kinney's, Garden Elegance, coffee table book on gardens in Margaret river.
